Most insulation jobs in this country are sold the same way: a salesperson quotes a number, a crew shows up and blows material into the attic, and the homeowner never finds out how much conditioned air is still escaping through the top plates and can lights underneath. We don’t run jobs that way. At Topside Attic Insulation, air sealing comes first – always – and every job closes with a documented photo record and, on applicable work, a before-and-after blower-door reading that shows the homeowner exactly what changed. If you’re the kind of person who finds that approach more satisfying than the alternative, keep reading.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Insulation Installer / Technician: Someone who takes the sequencing seriously – sealing penetrations before the insulation goes in – and doesn’t cut corners when nobody’s watching.
  • Spray Foam Specialist: A person who understands that two-component foam chemistry, mix ratios, and substrate prep are not details to approximate.
  • Crawl Space Technician: Someone comfortable working in tight, damp spaces and systematic enough to document moisture conditions, vapor barrier placement, and encapsulation results.
  • Blown-In / Attic Insulation Lead: A technician who can run a crew through an attic job – air sealing first, depth gauges set, blower-door numbers recorded – and leave the site cleaner than they found it.
  • Dispatcher / Scheduling Coordinator: A person who communicates clearly, keeps promises about arrival windows, and understands that a homeowner waiting on a tech is not an abstraction.
  • Customer Service Representative: Someone who answers the phone like they’re glad it rang, knows enough about the work to answer a real question, and can explain a written estimate line by line without flinching.

What We Offer

Real Training and a Clear Path Forward

We don’t hand you a caulk gun and point at an attic hatch. Apprentices at Topside learn the building-envelope system from the ground up: air sealing, blower-door testing, crawl space encapsulation, blown-in and spray foam application, and insulation removal. The path from apprentice to lead technician is based on demonstrated skill and documented job quality, not seniority alone. If you do the work right and you can show it, there’s somewhere to go here.

Work You Can Actually Be Proud Of

The Haven Standard isn’t a slogan on a coffee mug – it’s a set of operating rules that change how a job feels when you walk away from it. A written price before any work starts, a documented photo record when you leave, and blower-door numbers that tell the homeowner what the job actually did. When you seal a rim joist that was leaking like an open window all winter and you can show the before and after in a single pressure reading, that’s a different feeling than topping up somebody’s attic and hoping for the best.

Local Crew, National Backing

Envelope operates with local crews who know their own market, their own building stock, and their own climate conditions. What the national brand contributes is the documentation system, the materials sourcing from manufacturers like Owens Corning, Johns Manville, Rockwool, and Icynene, and the operating standard every location agrees to uphold. You’re not working for a faceless organization. You’re working with a local team that has a larger infrastructure behind it.

Steady, Year-Round Demand

Insulation and air sealing aren’t seasonal in the way roofing or landscaping can be – homeowners lose conditioned air in July the same way they lose heat in January, and a home energy audit surfaces problems that need fixing regardless of the month. Since 2016 we’ve sealed and insulated more than 9,000 homes, and that volume reflects a service people need consistently, not a product they buy once and forget. Steady demand means steady work.

No Experience? Read This.

A background in construction, HVAC, plumbing, or general contracting gives you a real head start – you already understand how a house is assembled, which means you’ll understand faster why sealing a top plate before adding insulation matters. But we’ve also trained people who came from warehousing, military service, and general labor. What transfers is the ability to follow a sequence, work carefully in tight spaces, and leave a job site the way you’d want to find it.

What we teach: blower-door testing and how to read the numbers, air sealing technique at top plates and penetrations, crawl space vapor barrier installation, blown-in application and depth gauging, and spray foam basics. The first months are structured – you’ll work alongside an experienced lead, not figure things out independently. If you’re careful, reliable, and willing to learn the vocabulary of building science, the experience requirement is a starting point, not a wall.
